External drive question

I apologize in advance for asking a question that I'm sure has been covered before, but I'm rushed on this and don't have the time to search through all the threads.

I need to record and make portable a TV show for a close friend. I have a 500GB Lacie external drive that is currently being used to store my music files that I stream from one my PCs. I have a wireless network (not that this makes much difference).

Is there any way I can easily plug in my external drive to my HR20-100 and record this show to it. From there I can handle it, but I'm expecting the DVR doesn't allow this.

Thanx

You can connect an eSATA external drive, however, the recordings made to it are encrypted and only playable on the DVR that made the recording.

The only way to make a show portable is to capture it off the analog outputs.
