So I moved an external hard drive 500gb WD with a bunch of concerts to another room and every time I try to access those recordings the 722 wants to re-format the drive and erase all the recordings.
It even says the same when I move the drive back to the 622 where it was originally connected.
Anyone have any ideas of a workaround?

The two easiest things that might work:

1. Reboot your receiver (without the hard drive connected) then re-connect and see what happens.

2. Call Dish and ask them to "re-hit" or "re-authorize" your receivers. Sometimes there is a glitch and the receiver thinks it hasn't seen an EHD before and a CSR can fix that with a system re-auth hit.

Me too since the first day I hooked an EHD up. And a DIRT member sent a "hit", "re-auth" and tried all the tricks and it still won't work. It started as a hit or miss thing and now it's all miss. Lost a ton of things I set aside. All basically gone.

We did talk about the issue for years ...

That's why a keyword "DishArc" used by ppl who want to save own 'ton of records'. Duh !
