Since Dish doesn't really support EHD issues, can I assume that to mean they are not working on any firmware improvements?

1. Sure would be nice to have "some" kind of organizational tools (via. folders, or alphabetical, or by search, or just manually rearranging.)
2. Be nice to be able to retitle (like "Unplugged" to an actual artist name)
3. Be REAL nice if movie "hours and minutes" moved to EDH rather than file size.
4. Be nice if when archiving, the show would stay on the receiver HD, with either a manual or auto option to have it deleted.
5. VIP211 USB support.

I'm sure there are others... what do we need to do to get Dish working on such things? I'll pay an extra $5/mo for these features.... if we can get 10,000 subs to do the same we can offer Dish $600K (annual).... cost them nothing once implimented. They could eliminate taht $39 activation fee at the same time!

Lets not offer to pay more. I would expect to see more improvements to EHDD interface and features.

If you change your regular DVR list sort order (to alphabetical for example) then your External HD list will be sorted that same way. A shortcut btw is to hit your pip swap button on your DVR list before going to the USB list. I use this regularly.

would a delete menu option on the ehd be that hard?
watch a show and want to delete it, have to scroll through the list again to find it and delete it.

211 would be sweet to playback recordings.

Pressing the SWAP button while in My Recordings toggles between the previous two sort orders.

Why not just use the same interface for the EHD as the internal drive?

I'd also like to see an option when you create a timer that would cause the program to be recorded directly to the EHD or copied to the EHD automatically sometime after it is recorded.

Also, it would be nice to have an option to supress the screen that displays telling you that copying to the EHD has completed.

I've been wanting to create my own file name and put whatever I want in it from just about day one. I also want to be able to put EHD shows in their own folders just like I can with the internal drive. It is a PITA sorting through movies to find my next episode of some series I have stored on there. Alpha sort helps with that but I'd like to just have the folders so I don't have to sort through hundreds of titles and can just sort through dozens of folders. I'd also like a skip to bottom of the list instead of all that scrolling down.

1. yes. And to me the most important thing to improve.

3. NO. Maybe in addition display hours and minutes, but knowing the size is important.

Folders may be coming for the ehds at some point for the 622/722. Someone with a 612 should check to see if they were included in the recent software update.
