It could be downloading "My Entertainment" and/or "Movies and more" content. If so, that sound is the hard drive. Of course, if the HDD has been spinning non-stop, it will heat up, and subsequently the fan will kick in to keep things cool.
Thanks for your input. The 622 sits on a table top with nothing around it. The noise is heard when there is a lull in the broadcast sound (conversation etc.) The sound hasn't been off since installation but is not the loud sound heard when the fan is at peak rpm and the unit is not hot to the touch. I will check the diagnostics as suggested. Perhaps it is the hard drive but is not the sound I associate with the hard drive in my computer for instance.Ron Barry said::welcome_s harlvard
Your 622 should be pretty quiet and you should only hear a loud fan sound when the 622 first boots up. If the fan is always on hight, usually what people describe as a load fan noise, it usually means the 622 is getting too hot.
How is your 622 installed? Is it above your AV Receiver? Is it installed with not a lot of ventilation around it?
By loud.. are you hearing it over your audio?
Also if you can find your diagnostic page.. it will tell you the temperatures.. Be curious to get some values for them.. But if your fan is constantly high.. I would expect a bad 622 or ventilation issue.
By the way.. when the 622 is off it really is not off. Just stand by and the 622 is still doing some work.
You might be able to reduce the sound some by doing what I do. I cut up a mouse pad (foam rubber type) and put under the four feet of the 622. For me it reduces the noise/vibration from transferring to the table top where it seems to get magnified.halvard said:Thanks for your input. The 622 sits on a table top with nothing around it.
