I thought I was not having any issues with my HR20, but I guess maybe that is partly because I am not a "power" user of the unit. Anyhow, tonight I just tried to play back an MPEG 4 program and ran into the dreaded FF lock up issue when I was trying to fast forward through the commercials. I have been reading a lot, and it seems that it happens most often on 1080i content. I did play back a 720p program, and other then some pixelation issues, it seemed ok, and the FF worked fine.

So.... I am just wondering, if I were to force my box to only output 720P, do you think this might be a temporary fix to the FF lockup issue? Has anyone tried this yet? If I force it to 720P only, will it record at 720p instead of 1080i on 1080i broadcasts. It was just something I had thought of and wondered if anyone else had tried this and had any luck.

no. its the format being recorded, not the format being output.

nope, known issue.. resolution found.. being tested will probably be next download to be resolved.. no service call.. no replacement ird.. short term fix.. press & hold down play.. sorry.. I had to troubleshoot that one this morning..

Or just let it play at standard speed... or use 30s SKIP

unfortunately, that is the EXACT steps we are to follow for this one.. trust me, I reread that myself several times thinking... hmmrf? why do u think I checks posts.. I see & learn things..:grin: :grin: :grin:

hey.. think of this way.. If I knew ahead of time what our "research" (the computer) would tell me about the EXACT date the new update would be.. then I wouldn't be up so late observing issues & some routes u guys have tried to resolve some issues.. some csrs (I have heard online here from Ya'll) get snitty if u mention internet links.. but as far as I'm concerned they're not the ones that are really "wanting the info" to be helpful & more likely ones just there for a paycheck.. so I don't have a bad word to say about any of ya'll here.. think of it this way.. for each cust I can help out that didn't know about this site I feel good, in fact, I have referred a few to check out your info.. I don't see the harm in all of us banding to gather to find solutions. DO YOU?? keep chin up.. this ird will be GREAT.. when everything works out.. I can just feel it ++ I'm getting 1 too so it BETTER be worth all this TROUBLE. LOL..

I wish all CSRs were like you surfbird. I was a CSR for Vonage for a VERY brief time; I couldn't handle the irate customers. You're a better man than I if you can deal with those kinds of people on the phone
