First His Summer Reading, Now His Favorite Artist ...
President Bush's Favorite Painter Tom Lea Explored In October 19 Episode of
VOOM Gallery HD's New TV Series, 'ARTLAND: USA'
NEW YORK, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Remember the hoopla the Bush-bashers
conjured up when the president's summer reading list was released? Well,
those who live to knock the commander-in-chief's cultural I.Q., as well as
those who fiercely defend it, will be sharpening their pencils with the
airing of the October 19th episode of the new TV series, ARTLAND: USA.
The new weekly series from VOOM's Gallery HD, a network dedicated to
visual arts, traveled cross-country this summer visiting great artists,
roadside art and museums, including the El Paso Museum of Art, home to the
works of the acclaimed Texas painter Tom Lea.
A WWII war correspondent who started painting in the late 1960s, Lea is
the favorite of the 43rd president, who has his famed work "Rio Grande"
hanging in the Oval Office. According to the show ARTLAND: USA, a new
original series from VOOM's Gallery HD, President Bush continues not only
to be inspired by Lea's naturalist, optimistic artwork, but often quotes
