First it's the Voom Channels, and now it's GOL TV

Is there a common thread running here? - first of all Voom were being 'unreasonable' to Dish and now it's Gol.
The bottom line is that we the consumers suffer, because our wonderful Sat TV provider just drops the availability of these services to us without a 'by your leave'.
Of course there will be no reduction in your fees....wait for it...some other channel we can do without, will obviously be provided as the excuse for no cost reduction.
I've had it with Dish, who wants to be involved with a service where the customer is treated so badly?
What a piss poor company, no wonder their subscriber numbers are falling, I'm going too, there is no doubt. To think that at one time they hoped to have subscribers recommend Dish to their friends.....how's that for a laugh...........

I don't necessarily disagree with the gyst of your post... but "first it was Voom", no it wasn't. I'm sure it was first something else... lots of something elses. Some channels have come back after disputes ended, others have not.

It's not like this is the first time this sort of thing has happened... and it has happened with cable too.

Sometimes I'm on Dish's side... other times I'm not. With respect to Voom, for as much as I like it... I am on Dish's side for the most part (except for the sudden yanking and not telling subscribers about it).

I am one of those who did not like to see Voom go.

But with Voom it is not like we can go to DirecTV and get it.

I don't watch GolTV and my wife did not watch it. I do feel for those who lost it but the end result was not an issue here.

MLB was another sore point for us. Dish did have the MLB package but we can no longer get it from Dish. Now DirecTV has it....

My wife and my mother-in-law are big sports fans' and they wanted MLB bad.
So the plan was that if Dish did not get MLB back next year we would go to DirecTV and pay the cost of new hardware etc...

In the mean time we decided to give MLB WebSite a go.
The cost of watching the MLB games for a full season is much less than the cost of the package from Dish or DirecTV. So that is what we did.

Now the TV upstairs is not a computer. So I gave up my laptop so my wife and my mother-in-law can watch MLB. Connected the laptop via S-Video to the TV upstairs and everyone is happy.

So right now I don't have any plans to leave Dish. But I do understand the issue.
Does GolTV have a Web based feed?

I know this is un related to this thread but, how is that picture quality running your laptop to the TV? I think it is really cool you could come up with something to fill your needs but, is it "TV" quality?

The look pretty good.

A lot of games are at 800K some are at 1.2M. The fastest 1.2M is termed 'TV Quality'.

Not HD but at least we can see the guy hit the ball instead of listening to the game on the radio.

Oh... The radio... We get XM radio in our car so we can listen to the games in our auto. Thing is the XM website version which we can use since we are XM paying customers does not include the MLB package. So if we wanted to listen to XM MLB we would have to buy yet another XM radio device for the home and a seperate account for the XM radio device. The CAR XM radio device is built in so we can not carry it into the house.

The MLB does do blackouts but you can still see the game in that case... just not live.

Due to Major League Baseball exclusivities, live games occurring each Saturday with a scheduled start time after 1:10 PM ET or before 7:05 PM ET and each Sunday with a scheduled start time after 5:00 PM ET, will be blacked out in the United States (including the territories of Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Live Audio of such games is available as part of any MLB.TV subscription or as part of the MLB.com Gameday Audio Package. Each game will be available 45 minutes after the conclusion of the game as an archived game (archived games are blackout free).

At $29.95 a year it is not a bad deal at all.
Just a pain to get the video feed from the computer to the TV's in the house.

If Dish was smart they would offer Web access on the 622/722 systems. Then MLB Web access would work without any monkey work.

Whine? Mois? not a chance.

Look at it another way - they added some channels (don't believe there were any of interest to me) so it's fine that the fees didn't go up. If they had, sure I'd be miffed, in just the same way that I was when they dropped channels I watch without notice.

Of course you know where this is leading?....... a la carte service - as they apparently have in Canada. Wouldn't that be absolutely parfait? choose the 20 channels you want to watch, and that's what you pay for.

and soon NBA, and NHL Dish Network is a trash thats why i stop wasting my money to a company that have more Religion Channels.
