Flint/Saginaw DMA HD locals?

710 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  BattleZone
I've just ordered a 722, so I will finally have some HD coming in. I knew that our DMA had been uplinked a while ago, but just discovered today that only ABC and FOX are actually uplinked in HD. Does anyone know why the Flint/Saginaw DMA CBS and NBC are not in HD yet? Any status on that? All four seem to be on DirecTV, so I'm a bit surprised that 2 of them are missing from Dish.

Anyone have info? Thanks!

Based on past history, if they're on DirecTV and not Dish it just means that Dish didn't want to pay to carry them in HD.
I don't know whats going on either. I noticed that in the uplink report NBC 12 and CBS 5 went away. They were available for a while.
I asked about it at the CEO email, but got the generic response that they offer locals from 150 markets and are planning to launch up to 50 local HD markets -- but that they are "not at liberty to discuss" negotiations for additional markets... blah, blah, blah...

This isn't just a case of adding additional markets. This is a case where channels were uplinked and even live for a bit (I believe), advertised as being available, and then suddenly went dark and have now even lost the uplink! Meanwhile, during that time, DirecTV went live with them without any problems. Weird stuff.

Again, contract (read: $$$) dispute. As a Dish subscriber, that shouldn't be anything new to you...
