That oughtta kinda explain it.
Twitter is an RSS type service, that can shoot messages to your cell phone, email, etc.
In this case, it'd be kinda like DirecTV having their own dedicated thread here at DBS Talk for their own PR stuff, and you subscribing to it to get updates.
