I don't know if this is the same issue, but I just got a new dish and now actually have HD service, including locals. Fox is the same on both channels (SD and HD) for SD content (i.e. Seinfeld). The SD channel is in pillar box, with the noise on the top, and doesn't respond to format changes.Staszek said:Ok,
I really HATE having side bars on my TV, I think it looks silly and just bothers me.
From what I read if you have Native on for a 4:3 transmission you can pick 3 settings in 720p and 1080i, Pillar, Stetch and Crop.
I use crop usually, my TV does a great crop but only on 480i and 480p.
The TV can accept all formats except 1080p (1080i is ok).
Anyway here is a for instance, I have Native on, and the HR20 tells me that Fox WNYW is broadcasting at 720p. Great so I go through the 3 formats to get crop, well stretch crop and pillar box all look the same no matter what you set it at it is still a pillar box.
I turn Native off and try it that way every single setting looks the same. on that Channel. I tried another local and it seems to be the same.
Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the box.
The TV is an Toshiba 46H83 it is connect via DVI/HDMI to a Pioneer VSX-82TXS, I have the conversion turned off on the Pioneer so the video is just being passed through to the TV.
