Yesterday DTV came by for my upgrade. They must have farmed out to who knows who of a company. Wow I'm shoocked at how uninformed these guys really are. I knew things were going bad when he hooked up my new reciever and was powering up. I said aren't you supposed to hook up the new slimline dish first. Puzzzled loook on both their faces.:eek2: I said you mean to tell me you came hear just to give me the new hr21. It's worthless to me without the new dish. Well then he says ya I thought that was wierd but all the order papers said is a swap. Both guys said they couldn't hook one up for me. So I get on the phone with DTV and they agree that I should have had the dish also. I put one of the guys on the line and now I will be waiting until wednsday. No problem I'll just use this for the time being. A few sorry's and off they go. Get home last night dish can't find signal at all 771. I look at the hook up and they had on of the two sat lines with my ota cable. So I put the other one in it's right spot. Reboot and can not get any kind of signal at all. So I brought my H10-250 back up stairs and hooked that one up and all is fine. So the reciever they gave me also is no good. Man I am trying to be patient, But every installer I have dealt with for over 14 years of service is bad.

Update,

Wednesday brings a guy who is the best installer I have ever dealt with. This guy was fast and was a perfectionist. He did a great job. He is very knowledgeable on every thing about DTV! Compared too monday's guy's it was like night and day difference. Also the guys from monday told me I would not be able to install the new dish on my roof because he said I would get tree interference. My old dish was on my roof and I got perfect signal strength. Not sure why he thought that. Other than he wanted to charge $75.00 to put a poll up to install on. New guy says it would be no problem at all and that tree was way out of line of site. I told this guy how hard it is to find a good installer and he told me that 90% of his work is cleanup on all the bad installs from guys that have no buisness doing installs. He was not at all suprised by what I was telling him. He also got my reciever working again. I got his name and badge # emailed his company and told the President how pleased I was with his service. Gave him a tip and let him know how apreciative I was of his work. New reciever has alot of cool features and I'm a big fan of Tivo. The HR21-100 is something I think I will come to like alot more after I spend some more hours with. A very pleased customer now!

It's nice to hear positive stories about D* installations rather than the constant flow of negative ones. :)
