Ummm.... Ok. So they turned the machine off to break the connection between the universes, and "our" Lincoln chose to go the other side. But he was in the room with people from our side, who stayed after the machine was turned off, yet Lincoln disappeared with the people from the alt side. How? Just because he wanted to go?

In all of Fringe nothing's bothered me before, but this bothered me...

As I remember the scene, in between the two "sides" was the interface between the two worlds - the aisle between them - and if my memory of the camera angle is correct those standing on the left side of the aisle remained in "our" world and those on the right side - where "our' Lincoln chose to stand - disappeared from our world.

I deleted the episode and my memory is not as reliable as it ... oh, why am I saying that, I never remembered details very well. But I do believe that is how it worked.

I agree Phrelin. I think all those on the left were from our world and those on the right were from theirs. Which Lincoln chose to part of.

You would be correct.

Yup. Don't forget that Peter is actually from the other world, so if it was based just on what world you were from, Peter would have disappeared as well.

somewhat off topic but...

does the fact that the bridge was closed mean they will go back to the plot where Olivia could travel between universes without it?

or maybe just more type writer scenes...

OK, thinking about it, I guess it does make sense since that location was the physical manifestation of the merged universes, standing on one side or the other would determine where you ended up when the Bridge was disconnected.

Not off topic at all! Anything related to this episode and previous ones is eligible for discussion. :)

It's still not clear to me how this will all work, as this season essentially introduced new versions of the characters we knew from previous seasons.

After Peter ceased to exist, we found out that Olive was raised by Nina, that Walter did still kidnap Walternate's son, but that the boy then died "here".

Then "our" Peter reappears and is fighting to go home, but we find out that he's always been home. Olivia starts to regain memories of Peter's Olivia. Why hasn't anybody else recovered those memories now that Peter has been returned?

So now to your question: Olivia was in the trials as a child, but I don't think they've yet revealed what ability Olvia developed in the world without Peter.

This show has reinvented itself at least four times so far, so who knows where they'll go with 14 episodes left ...

I thought the Peter we see now is from the same universe as in all previous seasons and that he is not from either universe in this season.

That's correct.

The Peter from previous seasons is the one who entered the machine to activate it, he disappeared, and when this season started we were presented with what we thought were two new universes, but really were universes in which our Peter didn't exist.

(The Peters from the present universes are dead. "Our" Walter's Peter died young, Walter then kidnapped Walternate's Peter, and then THAT Peter also died.)

My but this show is not easy to talk about. :)
