This is baffling me. I changed my esata drive to a newer larger one (yaaay!) and had to put in all my series links and whatnot again (booo!).

Once I was done, I hit a quirky little problem. I have my hr20-100 set to native=off and the only resolution checked is 1080i, since thats what my tv does natively and it does a lousy job of upconverting.

On recorded shows and any high def channels except my local HD channels (received from directv, not OTA) everything works fine. HR20 shows 1080i and the picture snaps right in.

On my local HD channels, the HR20's light goes to 540p and a message comes up telling me to use the format button to 'get the most out of HD!". Any pressing of the format button just runs me through the 540p options for crop, stretch, original. Pressing the button right on the unit does the same thing.

I tried checking and unchecking all the resolution options, changing native on and off, resetting the receiver, and pulling the power cord. Then I tried changing from the component out to HDMI. Same exact results.

Is there some magic trick I have to use to get it to do what I've asked it to do...only output in 1080i? It LOOKS like native mode is set to on, as when I change channels in the low HD local range, the tv spangles around like I'm changing input modes and takes a good 5-6 seconds to settle down to a normal picture.

Again, all this was set the same way and working fine before I changed the disk...I know some of the settings are store on the disk and not in firmware, but argh!

Argh! Argh! Argh!!!

Ah, my mistake...my tv actually has a setting for 540 or 1080. I never heard of 540 either, but my toshiba tv does it. I'd been fiddling with that just before posting.

Rodney...thanks for digging that up. I searched for a while and couldnt find anything. I'll try the OTA setup to see if that resolves it.

Seems fine as long as we dont watch live tv.
