any idea on if or when Directv will carry this channel full time on the Sports pack.

I don't see that happening anytime soon but you never know. It's viewed as a spin-off of FSN Midwest like FSN Indiana and that channel still isn't a full-time channel. AFAIK no channel that was originally a game-only channel has become a full-time channel (someone correct me if I'm wrong about that). Directv actually makes money by not carrying these channels full-time. Part-time stations share bandwith with the SD midnight-noon infomercial channels and HD PPV channels.
It's on 672...but it's not a full time channel, so there's nothing for them to show.
Correct. It is not a full time channel. There is nothing there to carry.
If you want to see the differences in programming, go to Zap2it and compare FSM (FSN Midwest) vs. FSM3 (FSN Kansas City). Programming seems to be identical except for games. FSN Kansas City even shows Cardinals Crew and Cardinals Top Ten. All you are missing is programming that is shown when there is a Cardinals game and no Royals game (and that programming is just the national FSN filler you can see on all the other FSN channels at some point). There may be some small differences in programming that I didn't notice though but at least most of the time the channels seem identical.
The commercials for FSN KC talk about showing local college coverage (KU, MU, K-State) as well as KC Brigade games (that's the arena football team). I'm not sure if they've started showing any of that stuff, but at least at some point it sounds like there will be unique programming on FSN KC.
There have been several Brigade games that D* did NOT carry on 648. Also, FSN KC has produced a couple of Royals-related shows that were to air after Royals Live postgame that never aired on D*. This Saturday I think there was supposed to be a Frank White: In His Own Words show.

I don't mind that it's not full-time, but FSN KC should request that D* carry these specials which they go to the effort of producing.

I've also seen ads for college baseball games. I'm pretty sure that D* is ONLY showing Royals games and post-game shows. I agree that it would be nice to get all the content that this channel is showing.
Another question--does anyone know if FSN KC is included in the local area for Omaha, Nebraska? In other words, can residents in Omaha see Royals games without the Extra Innings package? The link at the top that has local channels only shows FSN Midwest, but that's all it shows for the KC area also so it must not be updated with FSN KC.

If anyone at all doubted this, I saw tonight that it is indeed only broadcast part-time. D* waited slightly too long to shut off the signal but was quick to pull the plug on it when it went to a test pattern.

You don't get to see how these transitions happen very often, so I thought that someone here might be interested in exactly how the bumps back to the main feed work. Here's the sequence it went through: It said that due to the length of the previous program, regular programming would be joined in progress. The FSN logo stayed there for a few seconds to give cable companies a little extra time to switch the feed back to the main FSN Midwest feed. In case cable companies were too slow to switch, that screen was followed by a series of commercials. I was kind of surprised that they were actual commercials and not just FSN promos. The last one was an FSN promo saying "You are watching the Best Damn Sports Show Period" but that cut to the test pattern in mid-sentence. About a second or two later the D* logo showed up on screen.
