Maybe I was dreaming, but I could have sworn that I saw a DirecTV ad last night proclaiming that they were offering "full 1080i resolution" in their HD offerings. This is even a bigger fib than the old "crystal clear digital quality" thing.

If you can't compete, change the metrics.

I knew Daisy Duke. Jessica Simpson, you're no Daisy Duke.

That had to be the most poorly cast movie in a long time.

It sounded unconditional to me. The DFW bitrate monitor says that the Dallas 1080i channels (as well as the premium HD channels) are 1280x1080i.

I think the DirecTV marketroids are flogging the hamsters in the spinner again.

Earl...have you heard anything about whether or not D* plans to "really" offer full HD when the new sats are up or do we continue to get bit starved and compressed HD...

1280x1080i is OK, but then the HD package should be $6 instead of $10 ;)

Well.. it is 1080i.... right? They just don't specify the horizonal resolution.
When they use the word "full", the implication is that they are offering the same resolution that the content originates in: 1920x1080i. The fact that they didn't qualify it leads one to assume that they were speaking in reference to their entire HD product line.

Until I see evidence to the contrary, I'm going to chalk this up as another false claim. I find this especially brazen given the HD-Lite class action.
