Was anyone else watching DNS WABC-HD on channel 86 last night between 7 and 8 EST?
Picutre was pixellized up until about the last 10 minutues of Wheel Of Fortune. I called D* and after about a half an hour (got disconnected on the first call and took at least 10 minutes to get transferred to L2 on the second) the L2 tech confired her feed had the same problem. It was fixed about 5-10 minutes after that.
The funny thing was: I really liked it!!!
For one, the sound was unaffected. Two, for the most part you could still tell what was going on. All the contestants were visible although they would regularly have bright colorful growths on various parts of their faces and persons. It was if the Borg from Star Trek were assimilating everything, except that Jeopardy and the Wheel kept right on going as if they couldn't be bothered. As Vanna walked past the board turning letters, she would leave little slices of herself behind at every other step. Yes, it was hard to read the puzzle, but there was a refreshing entertaining aspect to the experience just the same. It definitely was not the same old show. And it wasn't anywhere near as unwatchable as pixellization due to weather.
I wouldn't mind seeing this again sometime, especially for visually uninteresting shows like talk shows or news. I think boxing would be much better in "Borg assimilation" mode since they're trying to distort each others faces anyway. Has anyone else had any fun with pixellization? :new_color
