A very young Robert Conrad in one of his earliest roles in "Lawman" on Westerns.

I've seen quite a few others too both on this and the early Gunsmoke episodes running under the title "Marshall Dillon".

Some of them are so young they're hard to recognize at first until you pick up on their voice or mannerisms.

Yeah, playing "Hey isn't that...." is one of my favorite games while watching TV.

Funny, I recently introduced my 8 y/o daughter to the Addams Family. Somewhere around episode ten Don Rickles does a guest appearance as one of the pair of robbers that are the central story. My daughter has no clue who he is, but I got a kick out of seeing him circa 1967.

My son, while home from Afghanistan recently, brought his new gf, a 39 y.o. beauty named Joey, home to meet me. I mentioned that the only other female named 'Joey' I had heard of was Joey Heatherton. She looked at me with a blank and confused look on her face, saying she had never heard of her.

I can't be that old, can I?

Seems like a 39 yer old should know Joey Heatherton.

And Lola Falana.

I remember them both from the Bobby Darin Show. Or was it The Dean Martin Show?

The Twilight Zone is another show for catching now-famous actors early in their careers.

Well, I'm roughly that age and sad to say I had to look her up. Most of the shows I grew up on were from the 70's and 80's.

Joey Heatherton...

As a record collector, there was a CD re-issue of 1972's The Joey Heatherton Album that is worth Googling. I thought the original album cover was down-right dirty, with Joey having a lustful, mouth open, let's get sloppy, baby, look. The CD cover...well, let's just say it won't be on sale at Wal-Mart.

Back on topic: I always liked seeing a very young Burt Reynolds as Quint Asper on an occasional Gunsmoke.

I'm 38, and I know who both ladies are, but mainly because of Catherine O'Hara sort of "combining" them into her "SCTV" character Lola Heatherton.

I would think so too, and especially if your a female with the name Joey.

I find it hard to believe that in her 39 years, nobody ever made that comment to her before.

I'm in my mid-40's and that's the first thing I would have said upon meeting her.

Maybe she's never met anyone 5 years older than herself before.

Please thank your son for his service, however.

Well, according to Wikipedia:
Heatherton began her career as a child actress, appearing in 1959 as a member of the ensemble and an understudy in the original Broadway production of The Sound of Music, and received her first sustained national exposure that same year as a semi-regular on The Perry Como Show, playing an exuberant teenager with a perpetual crush on Perry Como. She also appeared extensively on The Dean Martin Show; Dean Martin invited her to perform numerous times on the show, starting with the premiere episode of September 16, 1965. From June to September 1968, along with Frank Sinatra, Jr., she co-hosted Martin's summer substitute musical comedy hour, Dean Martin Presents the Golddiggers. She also made multiple appearances on 1960s television shows such as The Andy Williams Show, The Hollywood Palace, The Ed Sullivan Show, and This Is Tom Jones. She first appeared on television on her father's show The Merry Mailman, a popular children's show in New York.

In 1964, she appeared on The Tonight Show, where she energetically coached Johnny Carson on the finer points of dancing "The Frug." During that era, she also appeared in Bob Hope's USO troupe between 1965 and 1977, entertaining the GIs with her singing, dancing and provocative outfits. Excerpts from the USO tours were televised as part of Hope's long-running series of NBC monthly specials, culminating in the top-rated Christmas shows, where Heatherton's segments were regularly featured.
Your son's girlfriend was born in 1973. So in answer to your question, yes, we are that old, if not older. Heatherton entertained the troops in Vietnam....

As others here, I do appreciate your son's service and your apparent stoic sacrifice of peace of mind as a parent.

My first thought was Joey Lauren Adams, from movies such as Chasing Amy and Mallrats. Not my favorite actress, but I guess that's more my generation.
