The Star Trek original series lampoons will just not stop! I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! Last night's Futurama "season finale" was a hum-dinger!

Now mind you that I had not read any spoilers or seen any advanced ads for this show. I'm glad my Dishplayer got it.

Anyone else see this?

The following is a spoiler...be warned.

Last night's episode opened with the space ship flying in a star field. The ship had two external necells (ala Enterprise). The music was not quite trek, but close enough. I guess Paramount wasn't too thrilled with the idea. But the voice over sounded like Shatner's!

Inside the ship Zeff Brannigan is holding a court marshall. They wheel in the accused which is Frey in a Cpt. Pike wheel chair. Fry is slackjawd. Then you see the defendant's table and the jars with the heads of Nemoy, Shatner, Nicols, Keonig, Tekai, and Kelley. Okay...so I settled myself down for a "make fun of trek sesson. As the show developed, quickly I realized that increadibly Nemoy, Shatner, Nicols, Keonig and Tekai were playing themselves! Hillarious! A lot of self depricating humor all tongue in cheek made it even more of an experience.

Obviously missing from the episode was James Dohan (Scotty). Not even his image was used. He was only refered to when "Welchy" the stand in makes the appearance through the "Guardian of Time". Of course Welchie was wearing a red shirt, so he died almost instantly! Eventhough Deforest Kelley is dead, his charicature was also on this show (without a speaking part--for obvious reason)

The joke that made me laugh the hardest was when Frey grabbed the head of Leonard Nemoy off the shelf in the museum and imediately another Jar with the head of Jonathan Frakes (#1 --Riker-- in TNG) slides in from behind. He then says "Front row at last." I'm not certain it was Frakes' voice, but the credits say it was. Very funny.

Anyway, it was nice to see. This is one for the archives to be kept with the Trek collection.

See ya
Tony
