I was watching FX the other day and I saw a trailer for Sons of Anarchy that looked pretty cool, so I went on to the website to find out more about it. It's about a biker gang that runs guns and are just all around badasses, etc. Looks really cool and tje fact that it's on FX doesn't hurt.

yes i seen this promo also ...could be a good one ..lets hope
Also HBO is coming out with a biker themed story line. Its called 1% or somthing like that.
Back in April Hells Angels founder Sonny Barger filed a lawsuit against HBO and executive producer Michael Tolkin claiming that the concept and the script for the show were developed with his collaboration. Nonetheless, the planned show is titled 1% and according to IMDb it's in production.
Not to p*ss all of you guys off, but why are they glorifying a criminal gang? My husband spent years trying to stop the Hells Angels in our town. They threatened our prosecutors and took hits out on the judges.

Why can't they film from the opposite angle - law enforcement's battle against criminal biker gangs?

Having been in law enforcement, I can relate. I also knew a defense counsel for the Oakland Hell's Angels pretty well, sort of got to know about Sonny Barger and company. Yeah, they're criminals and not nice folks.

The Sopranos was hardly a show about nicer people than biker gang members. But criminals can make for good drama. The Fx show, Sons of Anarchy, strikes me as potentially enjoyable.

Barger (see his Wikipedia entry) on the other hand, attempted to turn semi-legit (much like mob members try) and gained considerable notoriety. I don't know how comfortable I'll be with the HBO show because of his association with it.

On the other hand, when the Redwood Run comes up Highway 101 though our town, Willits, CA, many of the bikers are cops. All my friends in law enforcement are old and retired, but many used to run in packs on weekends up Highway 1 in Marin and Sonoma Counties. Characters all.

So bikers come in all shapes and sizes and not all gangs were Angels.

I don't see these as family shows, however.

I could not agree with you more about biker's in all shapes and sizes. My husband is a biker as well as all his Trooper friends. We even have 100 years of motorcycles that comes here every summer. It's funny that the cops and the gangs have that in common.

As far as The Sopranos, I never watched it. But I admit my husband loved it. I do love The Shield, but I think mostly because of the quality of acting.

Phrelin, you and I seem to have very similar backgrounds and entertainment interests!! I always enjoy hearing your view.

Last time I looked, about 1/3rd of shows on TV were from the law enforcement side of the fence! Then again, I don't watch any of them bad biker nor cop shows, so ... whatever!

Next week a biker gang of 10,000+ members will converge on Milwaukee Wisconsin. I am looking forward to being here in person instead of watching them on some made up TV show. :D

I agree, I think it's going to be a nice twist on it too. Instead of painting the bikers and bad-guy outlaws, they are actually going to be the central focus of this show. Maybe that will make them somewhat likable. FX did the same thing with The Shield, which is about a dirty cop (more or less) but throughout the show you begin to feel for him.
