I have a SA H20 DirecTV receiver hooked up to a SA Series 2 Tivo and a standard def TV. The only resolution I have selected on the DirecTV receiver is 480i.

Quite often, but not every time, when the receiver switches from an SD to an HD channel, I get the big "Get the most out of HD" nag screen. This happens most often when the receiver switches to my NBC local. Hitting OK makes it go away, but it will invariably show up later when the channel changes again. Resetting makes no difference, because this is not a one-time nag screen. It will show up over and over again.

Since I am not in a position to change TVs, and even with the SD set, the HD picture is still better, the equipment is going to stay as it is. Is there any way to get rid of this screen for good?

(I called DirecTV tech support on this yesterday. Lady sent me here. :D )

The way to correct this is to connect your TV to the receiver using the s-video connection, but tell the receiver that it is connected to a 4:3 TV using 1080i as the only resolution. Then as far as the receiver is concerned, you are watching HD.
This will work because when the receiver is outputting 1080i on the non-existent component connection, it is also outputting 480i on the s-video connection.
