Good afternoon Dish fans,

This is more of a general pre-purchase A/V question but it is a bit of a deal breaker for my upcoming Dish install. I've ordered a 722 with the 250 package to replace my 2 SA DVRs from TWC in Raleigh, NC.

In our bedroom (what will be TV2 on the 722), we have a "unique" setup. I don't like watching TV when I go to sleep, but my wife does. So what we've done is run composite video + audio around the perimeter of the room from the second output of the SA DVR and used an Aux input on a portable DVD player as a "remote" screen for the DVR. This way the bedroom TV stays off but she has cable, DVR and DVD through her headphones. This works great.

The issue is that if our bedroom TV becomes TV2, it'll have to tune the 722's signal over a TV tuner (correct this if I'm wrong). Running A/V cables from the 722 into this bedroom is impossible at this point.

So this leaves me with nothing to feed the little DVD player's Aux input with, and thus wide awake at 1AM watching episode 7,298 of Law and Order: Shoot me Now for the 10th time.

I'm looking for any creative solutions to this problem, hoping y'all can come up with something I haven't thought of.

Other than this, I'm really looking forward to my Dish!

That's an idea, hadn't thought of it. Can Dish boxes view content of other boxes in the household a-la TiVo "home media" stuff? Another option for me is to just put a SD box in the bedroom, but I don't want to lose the ability to watch stuff recorded on the 722.

There is virtually no limit to how many TV's are connected to the RF output of the 722 (or any other ViP dual tuner for that matter). The old VCR idea is the best bet!

BTW you can view both TV1 & TV2 if you want over the RF by enabling TV1's output over the RF output (it will be in SD, but it's a second choice for any TV or VCR device hooked up tot he RF line). An unlike other RF output devices the sound will be in STEREO!

TV2 can also be connected with composite A/V, though I see you can't run the lines from the 722 to the bedroom.

This statement mad me look closer at the differences between the 622 & 722. While both have composite output it appears that the 722 does not have a stereo RF output. Another thing I learned is that the OTA tuner on the 722 is an optional module. I wonder why the 722 scrimped on these 2 features? I'm glad I have a 622, if I needed a larger HD (the biggest difference between the two models) I'd just add an external drive.

Michael P,

You are simply mistaken about both the stereo output via coax and the OTA tuner being a modular option.
