I am a former customer of Dish, I have 2 dishes on my roof one for 110 and 119 and a single dish for 61.5. I live in the Boston area should I ask for the 1000.4 Eastern Arc? I am getting theVIP722 and a VIP222 receivers. Anything I should look out for during the installation to make sure it goes smoothly?

You might want to have an HDMI cable on hand in case they don't bring one
on the install day.
Make sure you get good signal strength before they leave. And that you have the package you ordered.

In case? I don't think any of the 722's ship with one in the box. Fortunately I'd one that came with the TV.

What is considered a good signal strength range

35 to 50

Just remember to add about 45 to the number on screen, and that is the % signal strength that you have (higher the better obviously)

The first official date is 8/20 IIRC, but I would bet that the vast majority of systems won't use Eastern Arc for at least several weeks, until old stocks of MPEG2 equipment is depleted, 1000.4 dishes become more readily available, and all the techs are trained on it.

Just for comparison, DPP33 multiswitches officially rolled out about 3 months ago; I still can't get them from my local warehouse, and I've had a backorder for them for 2 months now.

New items tend to roll out slowly, despite "official release dates" that suggest widespread availability on that date.

How did the install go for you?
I will let you know tomorrow, they are coming in the morning. I did get a reminder call from Dish today, thats a good sign.

Is your system up and running now ?

Everything is working now, they did a good install neat and clean, very polite, nice guy. The only complaint I have is that he did not set the receivers to 1080i and he did not program the remotes for my tv's. Good thing I dont mind digging into the setup and I had to fix it myself.
