Giving Dad one of my unused receivers

1037 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  horza1337
My Dad has D* but only one receiver. On the 2nd TV in their house all they have hooked up is the antenna. I have 2 old basic receivers that I'm not using (GAEBOA's I think the model was). Can I give 1 to him and then just have him call D* to activate it on his account? Would they have to send a new access card? Thanks.

Here's how to proceed ....

* Be sure that the receiver you want to give Dad has been deactivated from your account.
* Sent the receiver and its access card to your Dad.
* Your Dad will then call DirecTV and activate the receiver. Hopefully the CSR will allow him to use the old access card, but they might insist that he get a new one for $20.
OK, thanks. I'll give it a try.
if you try to activate using the old card, he will end up having to return the receiver to DTV, as using the old card would only be done by uneducated billing agents. ACDT agents are the only ones who can prevent the receiver being labelled as leased, and we will require you to order a new card.
