When you get a black screen on playback... have you tried FF or 30s to get the program to start....
Going downhill...
Well... it's finally starting to happen... our HR20 that has had pretty much no problems is starting to mess up recordings. You go to play something you recorded and you get a black screen. A red-button-reset erases those black recordings. My wife likes to watch Fuse #1 Countdown. Last three recordings of that show were black screen and removed after a reset. Ironically this same show will not auto-record like a season. She had to manually set them to record one by one. The wife said to me "it's not that big a deal, but if it starts doing this with ER and Survivor or other shows I really care about, we have problem!" I just LOVE how the HR20 gets worse with each software update (at least it seems that way for us). :nono: :nono2:

Yes.... and nothing happens.
I hope this doesn't happen to us during one of my husbands races or this box will be history, lol.. Is this something that will happen to all, or just a few and far between? Yikes!
I don't know. Mine had been pretty solid. But ever since 0xEB it has gone downhill. I hope they don't (release nationally) because mine has been working, finally, since the last download. Earl, can you update us on the possibility of it being held back? FYI, mine appears to be a bit healthier under this version, but it is not solid. No lockups or unwatchable. 3 missed partial history recordings and the new mepg2 trick play problems. IMO it is still not ready for prime time until it can record what I program it to. I get (more often too now) the black screen when trying to play somethings.. I always get it to play. Here's what you do.
When it's black.. just hit previous channel.... let it swtich back... give it 5 seconds.. then hit previous channel again.. it does go black for 2-4 seconds again but DOES then start!

I will have her try that if it happens again. Since after the reset, they disappeared from the playlist completely.
That sound like the unwatchable bug, can't play them and when you hit reset they disappear. I was never able to get any of the unwatchable recording to play with any trick play, if I hit the slip button it would just count them up and same with FF.g4jedi said:I will have her try that if it happens again. Yes.. even those that WILL dissapear when you hit reset.. will come back with my PREV channel trick. But they won't be 'normal' and will dissapear when reset is hit the next time.
I've got a black screen a time or two, but the last week or so I get the screen freeze up where no button works so I've had to reset the box. Here's another one that I get. The audio sounds choppy like I'm downloading a video on You Tube or something. If I back up about six seconds then it sounds bad, but if I leave it in live it sounds terrible. Please please please Mr. Update Man address these issues.
