I was wondering if there are any "pro" coax cable masonry clamps that are more substantial than the kind sold at Radio Shack and the big box home improvement stores. Those type always seemed like a joke to me with their little stubby nail that barely pierces the surface of a cement block wall. One good tug on the cable and they pop right out.

The last time I had to fasten coax to a cement block wall I used the Tapcon blue screws and regular one-hole plastic cable clamps. Just wondering if there's a better way.

Nah, they're all crappy made in china ones. I do have a special 'kit' with plastic anchors/plugs and screws that is used to mount switches and groundblocks. But The anchors can also be used in combination with screwclips. This is more secure and less chance to hit the wire with your hammer.

#8-#10 Blue anchors.

Screw-in cable clips.

Con-Sert tool, model 950. It has a retractable drill bit and a 1/4" nut driver. Extend the drill bit, drill hole, bit retracts automatically. Insert anchor and screw in cable clip.

Excellent. I already have those cable clamps and just so happened to pick up a bag of the red anchors this morning. Looks like the Con-Sert tool is now referred to as a #9 ? Couldn't find a model 950.

Those telecrafter clips require a larger hole in the wall and don't hold as well or as long as the metal screw clips do. They are also much more difficult to undo, and sometimes it is necessary to re-route or add a line. Finally, they don't come in a dual cable version, whereas the screw-in clips do.
