got an HR21-100... No B-Band converter?

I just got my shipment of a new HR21. I opened the box and there is only the power cable and remtoe with the HR...
Do I not need B-Band converters any more?
The manual doesn't mention them and doesn't picture them in the install... but my HR21-700 downstairs does have them...

You need a BBC unless you are using a SWM.

You'll need to call DirecTV and have them send you BBC's.

mmm.... the slimline. I think. The guy put it up and I only glanced at it since it's been up there. It has the 3 lnb array where 1 is empty, if that helps. Also it went in no more than 3 months ago.
if you have BBCs on your other hr 21 then you need them on this one. This is actually expected as the cables and bbcs have been removed from the box and are suppose to be provided by the installer now. You'll need to call and get them to send you bbcs.
I am on the phone with them now...
That's weird because when the installer brought the first one... EVERYTHING was in the box. I hooked it up while he wired the multiswitch.
this one was a brown box (NOT retail) and I am guessinga refurb since they didn't include anything else.
No necessarily a refurb. DirecTV took all the cables and BBCs out of the box and expects them to be provided by the installer. This is a move to reduce costs by not providing a bunch of cables or BBCs when they are not needed. A refurb would be indicated by an R on the end of the model number normally.

Retail boxes of corse still include cables and bbcs.

sorry, my 3 year old posted
My upgrade came two weeks ago, no bbc's, as long as you call you'll get them quick, don't use the web form.

Same here, plus the installer gave me an HDMI cable, I am connected to a SD TV in the basement. Like it has been said just give D a call.
If you still have the box that it came in you can check the label. If it says HR-21 NC it doesn't have the cables or convertors. The NC = no-cables. The box I bought at Costco a few months back had the cables in it. All of the boxes purchased at a retail store should have the cables in them. If it's labeled NC it shouldn't have them in there.
OK, so I got off the phone with the most helpful CSR from any company.
She was SHOCKED that FedEx left the box on my doorstep. Apparently they are to be signed for.
It was disconcerting to come home and have a brown box on my door step that said HD DVR in huge letters on it...
Then she was confused as to why that was the box they sent... it's an additional receiver, not a replacement... she told me that whatever it was, I wasn't fixing an HR2x so I should have gotten B-Band converters anyways...

Well they are on the way. And I figured out that I can get HD locals without them but ALL the other HD channels need them to work. Yay. Now I have to record project runway on another DVR so my wife doesn't kill me. :)
I received two HR21-100's as upgrades yesterday. Neither had the BBC's in the box. My HR20 has them but I figured the newer HR21's must have them built in. Only after installing and activating the units I received a 771 message on all HD channels. The CSR doing the activation ran a bunch of tests, had me do several resets and then ordered a technician for next week to troubleshoot my system. It was only later that I thought about the BBC's on my HR20 when I swapped units from room to room to check if the problem was in my system. Called CSR and asked if the HR21's required BBCs. SURPRISE! Four are on the way now.

I am not amazed that they forgot to include them in the box. I am amazed that the first CSR did not catch the problem and ordered a technician at their expense.
