I have a 60" 4:3 TV, so when I watch in HD there is a bar at the top and bottom. In the setup you are suppose to be able to change the color to one of the following: Light Gray Dark Gray or Black. I would pefer black, but it stays gray no matter what setting I put it on. Anyone else have this issue, or is it just in ny HR20?

Thanks,
Mike

Or a plasma. Grey bars can be a bit distracting, but are a better approximation of the average brightness of program material, thus helping to avoid burn-in as compared to using black.

This is a scheme to prevent side burn marks particularly on CRT sets. I can receive25 HD OTA channels, some employ it, some do not. I can receive same network feed from two different stations, one has it, one does not so it is local station equipment inserting it. I also think some sets and HD receivers insert them when receiving 4:3 SD programs.

I personnally hate it. It is very distracting.

No, it's not my TV. I had it hooked to HD Cable before I switched to D-TV and had no grey bars. It's not the stations either. There is a place to set it on the HR20 and it just doesn't work. What else is new? Seems like ALOT of things aren't working correctly.
