I have a loud hum when I connect my lightinining block to the lightning rod in all of my speakers the installer said dont worry about it and disconnected the ground wire from the block. I was uncomfortable with his suggestion and I found out that the hum will go away if i conect a wire from my rotel 1098 processor box screw to the line conditioner (adcom) I did this and it worked but why?????

I have a newer house built in 2002.
I dont understand why I need a wire from the processor to the Adcom conditioner. will this harm my equipment??

I am happy the hum is gone but i want to know if I should investigate further or just forget about it????
thanks Rob

how is your ground block grounded? The ground block should be connected to the main ground on your electrical system. If this is just a ground rod the installer put in there MUST be a #6 wire from that rod to the main ground in your electrical system.Other wise you will 2 grounding systems in the house that can cause problems and is not NEC code. All installers are required to follow the code but alot dont.
