Hello,

I have a 622 with version L612 software.

Starting a few months ago, thru several software upgrades, our 622 will sometimes reboot when the remote Guide button is pressed. I have tried hard resets by unplugging the machine, but this does not help. Beginning to think that maybe the quides have become corrupted.

It is becoming more frequent now and I am considering asking for a replacement.

Any thoughts regarding this problem or on how difficult it will be to get a replacement

Thanks.

If you think the Guide data is corrupt, do a check switch test. Following the test a complete new guide will download. That should clean up anything bad in the Guide data.

Otherwise, it sounds like a hardware problem of some sort since no one else is reporting that as a software problem. I would sure get a replacement if my receiver booted when the Guide is displayed. I assume it does not happen every time or I would consider it totally dead.

You could also try to toggle the guide pop-up setting the opposite of what you're using, see if that makes any difference.:)

Actually, it's been happening here recently, and I think I can help diagnose.

It's never happened to me, but it has heppened to my roommate three times or so. Our usage habits are different enough to make me think it's a particular combination of steps that I just don't do but he does.

The three times it happened, he's fairly sure it was the same combo of circumstances:
1) There was a prograam recording
2) That program was showing live, not paused or anything
3) The DVR list was on screen (with the currently recording show in the window)
4) He hit the Guide button and it rebooted.

I don't happen to face that combination because I basically never go straight from the DVR list to the guide. I always escape out of the DVR list before going into the guide, and it never reboots on me.

(This is a VIP622, and I think I've got L6.12 but I can't check 'cause there's a recording going and I don't know how to check without killing it.)

I have confirmed that my reboots are happening when I navigate from the dvr list of recorded programs to the guide using the Guide button. These reboots happen about 5% of the time. If I get out of the dvr list using the Done or Live buttons before using the Guide button, I don't seem to reboot.
