I was wondering how others feel about this on their THR22…

If it is within 5 minutes of the next hour or half hour (e.g 7:55 or 2:26) when you open the guide (Grid mode) it defaults to the next time period (shows 8:00 / 2:30) rather than the current time period on the far left. As an example if ‘Jeopardy’ is 7:00-7:30 and “Wheel of Fortune” is 7:30-8:00 (not that I watch these) then if you open the guide at 7:26 then the guide is on the 8:00 (Wheel of Fortune…) program. As another example, if you are paused (buffered) by 30 minutes and watching the 7:00 program and hit the guide at 7:55 (5 minutes left in the 7:00 program) it then opens to the 8:00 program which does not show the buffered 7:30 show at all. Of course you can go left to see the previous time period.

I was hoping to hear your thoughts on this – Is this the behavior you have seen also and how do you feel about it? I have not seen any previous DVR do this and I am really bothered by it.

Thanks, Mitch

The same is true of the TiVo-style guide.

It's a little disconcerting at first, but it takes no time to get used to it. It seems that the thinking behind it is that no-one wants to watch a show for the last few minutes, so it may as well go to the next one.

Thank you for the comments on this. I guess I am just nit picking the things I am not happy about with the THR22. Yesterday it re-booted in the middle of a movie I was watching delayed...Frustrating!!

I wish I was happier with it. It just has not lived up to my many years of expectations for it. I wonder what happens if you call DirecTv to ask to exchange it for a HR series?

You could just try a different unit. We have zero issues and the 30 second skip.

I miss that fantastic feature on the DTV DVRs. You have to be careful to look at the tiny little indicator on top to see that not only is the diplayed show in the info above almost over, most of the time is it totally over and some of the next show is already in the buffer.
