The whole Guide needs a makeover. A LOT more customizable stuff. One good thing brought up long ago was that when you hit the GUIDE button, it'll go straight to the listings, and not thru the FILTERS area. Maybe someday we'll be able to download Themes and stuff thru the ethernet port and have crazy colors like Orange and Navy or White and Black....:dance:Blitz68 said:I think we need a feature to allow us to remove SD channels from the guide if we want.
Makes no sense to have them there.
Yes... an update from D*.RxMan1 said:Is there a way to hit the guide button and not have to go to the 2nd screen to select a filter? Just have it pop up with one click?
What? Do you mean is there a way to go directly to the guide? The only way is to get a programable universal remote.RxMan1 said:Is there a way to hit the guide button and not have to go to the 2nd screen to select a filter? Just have it pop up with one click?
Nope.RxMan1 said:Is there a way to hit the guide button and not have to go to the 2nd screen to select a filter? Just have it pop up with one click?
Yea, but that means that I have to do more work and I know that I am VERY lazy. I'm feeling like a nap just trying to type this...:new_sleepRadio Enginerd said:Nope.
The only way to avoid a double guide button push is to use a programmable remote.
Hello, can you tell me which model of this remote is the wise choice for D* I looked at logitechs site and there are several. Pretty expenvise too! But I might want to consider it. Does it allow you to program macros, (combinations of keys) That could be quite cool. How many buttons are there that serve as macro programmable? Thanks.Radio Enginerd said:Nope.
The only way to avoid a double guide button push is to use a programmable remote. I use a trick with the Harmony remote and it's awesome. Highly recommend using a Harmony, ease of use gets an A+.
I purchased the Harmony 676 for $90 and it did the trick. The activity buttons are at the top and it was easy for my wife to use. That was the criteria I used.HolmesCo said:Hello, can you tell me which model of this remote is the wise choice for D* I looked at logitechs site and there are several. Pretty expenvise too! Harmony actually don't support macros (at least the one I'm using doesn't). But there's a work around often discussed on the board that I used to have the remote press 2 buttons. I basically have the remote execute the guide button twice each time I press it once.RxMan1 said:You mean use a macro?
Thanks "Radio" Looks cool, Price grabber cheapest is $108. Do you know of some specific place where its $90, or perhaps its been a while since you bought it and prices have gone up, what a surprise!!Radio Enginerd said:I purchased the Harmony 676 for $90 and it did the trick. Take a look (see attached image). The design is also similar to a Tivo style remote.![]()
This was on the HR20 Wish List for a while, but ranked low.Coffey77 said:Maybe someday we'll be able to download Themes and stuff thru the ethernet port and have crazy colors like Orange and Navy or White and Black....
I got it from Sam's Club about 2 months ago... It might have been closer to $100 now that I think of it.HolmesCo said:Thanks "Radio" Looks cool, Price grabber cheapest is $108. I got mine at Sam's club for $99. The guide "work around" works fine 99% of the time for me. The only thing about the 676 that I don't really like is the small directional ring. It doesn't sit proud enough of the select button so I end up double pressing buttons causing unexpected behaviour.HolmesCo said:Thanks "Radio" Looks cool, Price grabber cheapest is $108. The thing I REALLY liked about this model was the fact that the activity buttons are at the top. Many Harmony remotes require that you press a single "activity" button at the top, then a list of activities (ex. Watch TV, Watch DVD) appear on the LCD. Executing an activity requires 2 buttons to be pushed.
With this model, those activity buttons are dedicated at the top. So when my wife wants to watch a DVD she knows she has to press the BLUE button at the top and hold the remote towards to TV until everything comes on. Then when she wants to watch DTV, she presses the RED button.
Don't know how familiar you are with these remotes but they're TRULY ahead of the curve. When you press an activity, the remote will change the input on the TV to match whatever you're trying to do, turn off devices not in use, change the input of your home theater receiver and configure your remote to control the device you're using.
Made life with a Plasma, home theater receiver and DVR SIMPLY!
Best of luck to you!
Looks like Harmony has made some improvements with the 670 model.HolmesCo said:Yes that sounds quite nice. I appreciate the info and will look into it.
