try a wireless ethernet bridge.
a wired connection is always best if you can get the wires to the location.

I think I have one of these (WRT54G) in the garage. Having been replaced with the current one, a modem/router combo. You're talking about attaching the WRT54G to the HR21-100 via ethernet cable and thence via wireless to the main router on your system? Some (simplified) directions would be great!MikeTN said:You can also pick up on Ebay a used Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router.
That model in particular has open architecture and you can install 3rd party firmware which lets you configure it as a wireless bridge.
I bought another one yesterday to do the same thing with for $23 shipped.
That's about $100 less than a wireless bridge, and about half the price of the cheapest powerline solution I have found.
Check out this thread... http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=74426 it should help you get started.Hoppy said:I bought Netgear Wall-plugged ethernet switches for $160. Plugged them in one in back of HR21-100 and one by computer & router in another room.
The HR21-100 says it's connected to network and internet.
Now what?
How do I get pix, video, music from computer to the television? Previous I had the Sony PS3, and that was easy cause the computer source just showed up on the TV PS3 main menu.
Here I haven't a clue how to get the photographs onto the TV for a slide show, or music, or videos.
And I use an iMac with Windows running in VMWare Fusion, if that makes a difference. Would prefer to be able to show stuff on TV off either operating system.
Can't find a tutorial here (or anywhere) to help out and would appreciate any help you can offer, thanks!
i've got the tomatoes, just need to pick up the buffalo.rob316 said:I have a Buffalo WHP-54g router which I flashed with tomato and turned it into a wireless bridge and it works perfectly. See if you can get a used Linksys or Buffalo and flash the firmware with tomato and you should be good to go.
