If it is a H20-100, it is a known issue. Component should work.
I have the same issue. Will the HDMI work with other H20-XXX and is DirecTV addressing the issue?bobnielsen said:If it is a H20-100, it is a known issue. Component should work.
Has anyone tried passing the signal through a HDMI switching receiver? Just wondering if it might solve the problem.bobnielsen said:If it is a H20-100, it is a known issue. Component should work.
Yes on both counts, as far as I know. Component will work with the -100.zubby_zu said:I have the same issue. Will the HDMI work with other H20-XXX and is DirecTV addressing the issue?
Your H20 is a H20 -600 not a H20-100. H20 600 works fine with HDMI to the Samsungs. The H20 -100 use a different HDMI chip that has a hand shake problem with some other HDMI chip sets. D* said next software update will fix this. That was over 6 months ago and still no update from Ver. 100C.sstang said:I have a Samsung DLP TV and I have used HDMI with my H20 and now with the HR20. I didn't have an issue with the H20 but I did originally with the HR20. But I have had the HR20 hooked up to my Samsung DLP via HDMI for the last month without a problem.
Don't think so yetzubby_zu said:Did DirectTV resolve the H2O to Samsung HDMI issue?
I could not wait to try your solution. Tried it several times but it did not work for me.Paul D350 said:I had the same problem with the H-20 connected to a 50" Sammy DLP. HD channels would display via HDMI, but non-HD channels would only display thru component input. I could also not get the HD locals at all. Nothing I tried worked. This is what DID resolve the problem:
I unplugged the H-20 from the wall, and disconnected the "Sat In" coax cable as well. I then plugged the H-20 receiver back in, and let it start rebooting until it gave the message "Searching for satellite signal". (The Samsung TV was set to "Component input".) Then, I reconnected the "Sat In" coax, and let it reaquire the satellite info. After the reboot was complete, I switched over to HDMI input on the Sammy. All channels could now be viewed thru the HDMI. Also, went to the setup menu for "Custom 1" and there they were! Digital feeds for the locals from D*, which could then be added to the program guide.
I have no idea why, but it appears that once all rebooting and setup had been done using the component output, HDMI started working. This had been a problem for months, and this was the only procedure that fixed it.
Don't forget to leave the satellite coax disconnected until the "Searching for satellite signal" message appears.
I hope this works for you.
I'm a little confused. Your LCD is fine with Component. Does this include sound? Are you connecting the optical out from the satellite to the optical connection on the back of the LCD? If so, this will not work as you LCD does not decode DD. The optical connection on the LCD is an "out" connection as its purpose is to pass DD from your digital TV receiver to a SS box.blademaster said:Im having the same issue with my Samsung 4095dx 40" 1080 LCD.
I can get it to work fine with Component but i get no sound when i try using optical sound or regular rca outputted sound. Any ideas?
Agreed. I have the same tv and the digital outet is for "audio out" only. You can use the digital out to a surround sound receiver that has a digital audio capability.hdAddict said:I'm a little confused. Your LCD is fine with Component. Does this include sound? Setting up your LCD with component should include two RCA audio cables from the satellite box's "Audio Out" to your LCD's "Audio In". The video and audio cables should be inserted in the same Input grouping on the back of your LCD. My guess is you have two HDMI inputs and two Component w/Audio inputs on your LCD with an assortment of composite/svideo inputs/outputs as well.
they are adressing the issue...it turns out that HDMI "standard" is an oxymoron. Samsung tv's have the most problems, but some other brands do also. The 600 series has no such problem with any TV....leading it to be BOTH the fault of the TV manufacturer AND the manufacturer of the 100 series. (and the yahoos who oversee the HDMI "standard")zubby_zu said:I have the same issue. Will the HDMI work with other H20-XXX and is DirecTV addressing the issue?
