They are actually made by several different manufacturers. Look at the back on the model number, such as H20-100. The "-100" means this particular receiver was built by RCA Thompson. Somewhere there's a list of them all. I think the -600 is built by LG (Lucky Goldstar)

100= RCA/ Thompson
200= Samsung
300= Philips
400= Hughes
500= Humax
600= LG
700= Pace (HR20-700) DVR
The LG model(600) is said to have the better OTA tuner(5th Gen chip), but
is said to have over- heat issues.

Because the manufacture is contracted out don't expect RCA or LG to support the receivers they manufacture. It would be like Sear contracting with GE to build a "kenwood" range, GE dosen't support the product but SEARS will service it.

The H20-100 is made in Mexico and the H20-600 is made in China. I have had both and that is what was on the boxes they came in. The only support is thru Directv.
