Wow! At the year-round residence, I have HR20-100 and H20-600. For a while now (more than a year), the HR20-100 in one room has never given me any fits or problems whatsoever. The H20-600 in the other room is acting up big! Especially with the new MPEG4 channels. If one is acting up, I can't understand why the other isn't. Both are coming from the same dish and same (what do you call that thing? My mind's slipping... multiplex? The one where 4 cables from dish goes into and 8 cables connects to the thingy? WOW! I feel dumb!!) device.

Anyhoo, I had been procrastinating on trying a new cable to connect from the thingy to the receiver until today. I replaced the cable and it still doesn't help. So, I tried to see if it is the power issue and that doesn't seem to be the problem because I plugged the receiver into the outlet directly, just by itself and same thing but it took FOREVER for the receiver to boot up (sometimes not at all!).

Well, I originally had the HR20-700 in that room. It's nothing but pixelation. I've had a guy from DirecTV come here twice already and nothing seems to work. I had the HR20-100 replace the HR20-700 (sadly) and still the same problem (the HR20-100 is now at the cottage so I got two HR20-100's). Actually, I've been through at least three receivers up until I finally got the HR20-100 (first was H20-100 or 600 by mistake (still no help due to more pixelations) and then the HR21 (which I can't have because of OTA for my locals up here in the boonies) with more pixelations).

So, what am I missing? I did try replacing the BBC's but still no help. What?! What?! I can't figure out what else could be wrong!

So, if I get this correct, it is the location, regardless of trying another receiver of replacing the the wiring?

Sounds like it may be the "multiswitch" (the word you were looking for) assuming that you receivers in other locations all work fine.

Please post your signal strengths on 99(a) and 103(b) for the H20-600. They're in the Setup menu under Satellite & Ant > View Signal Strength (arrow over to 99(a) and 103(b) with the navigation buttons on the remote.)

Satellite transponders (14 total at 99º(a))
[New national HD channels]
1-8 # # # # # # # #
9-16 # # # # NA NA NA NA

Satellite transponders (16 total at 103º(b))
[Most national HD channels]
1-8 # # # # # # # #
9-16 # # # # # # NA NA
17-24 # NA NA NA NA # NA NA

Try temporarily running your new line directly to one of the dish lines, placing a double-female "barrel" adapter in the line, thereby bypassing the multi-switch and eliminating it as a suspect. (This will temporarily mess up your other receivers' ability to receive all your channels.) BTW, make sure you have the correct multi-switch: either a Zinwell WB68 or WB616.

there is a software issue with the H20-600. Forcing an upgrade should make it better. Reboot (Red Button Reset)
when you see the Hello Screen press 02468 on the remote. it should say new software found after about 1 minute. let the software download and then it will reboot.

IF that does not work, you may need to call customer service and get a replacement. Good Luck
