"Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds" Movie on Starz & Disney this month

From Variety:
Since Disney's theatrical-output deal with Starz would not permit Disney Channel, a basic-cable network, to get the "Hannah Montana" concert before Starz, Shelanski said he worked out the deal that allows both nets to run it beginning July 26.

Disney Channel gets the premiere in 3-D, partnering with Wal-Mart stores for free glasses as part of back-to-school displays. Starz will kick off its 3-D version the next day, on July 27, via both Starz on Demand and Starz HD on Demand.

Hannah Montana truly disturbes me. The fact that she is such an idol to kids - what happens when people go crazy over something like Miley's Vanity Fair cover?

Just makes me shake my head. Yes, they are idols for children.

It doesn't mean that they are still 12 though.

Ok, I am ranting now...

:D

Unfortunately, this is a trend that began a long, long time ago. Well, maybe performers as idols for pre0teens just in my lifetime, the beginning of which seems a long, long time ago.
Wal-Mart has Free 3D Glasses for the concert in their store. I'd get them quick, they didn't have much left when we picked up some for our girls.
I do not understand this Hannah Montana business. I did not think she was a real person but apparently she is touring so she must be a real person. At one point I thought she was a character played by Hillary Duff but now I am not so sure. And Miley Cyrus, who often tours with her... the two look similar. Are they related?

Not quite sure which is which, but the father of one of them is hosting Nashville Star and he's kinda inept.:sure:
Yeah, and the guy who hosts Nashville Star looks a little like that Achy Breaky guy but with much worse hair. It's so confusing.

You guys are missing the sarcasm tags, so I'll bite.

The "achy breaky guy" is Billy Ray Cyrus, dad of Miley Cyrus.

The show is about a fictional chareacter called Hannah Montana, but in reality, it's about a kid who's trying to live a "normal" life, so most of the show is her pretending not to be "Hannah."

Confused yet?

I can't wait for my daughter to get off this Disney phase. They sure mastered their marketing.

Edit: Just to further along the nepotism, Billy Ray Cyrus also plays her dad in the show.

I don't know. Our foster girls are 9 and 11. We took them school supply shopping this weekend. Now Hanna Montana stuff is everywhere in Wal-Mart and our youngest got a hanna montana bag, but they both actually put back hanna montana folders for cute cat and dog folders! So apparently, Disney still can't beat cute kittens and puppies sometimes (which give me great hope for our children!).

As for the marketing? Has anyone actually seen what they serve children on Disney channel? I'm extremely close to turning it off on the DVR's. - Especially after hearing a song abound "Suicide" on Disney Radio (which has since been edited.)

All I can say is Walt must be turning in his grave!

Have you ever really watched Bambi or Snow White? Disturbing and Creepy are the names of the two dwarves shot by a hunter.:eek2:
It is not at all clear what showings are in High Definition, Standard Definition, 3D or 2D. I want to see it in HD and 3D.
this weeks tv guide magazine has the 3d glasses included with the issue.

It must be included in the newsstand issue but not the subscription issue.

That's not fair!

Remember Annette Funicello?:D But you're right in one way. It's only since TV started that visual entertainment stars have been specifically been targeted to children. Before that it was books and comics that were accused of rotting their minds.
