Hi all!
I hope this hasn't been hashed to death. I did a quick scan of the forum and didn't see anything, but honestly, I'm ready for bed, so I may be missing it!

Anyway, I am curious about something. When I woke up this morning and turned on the TV while I was getting ready for work, I had a message taht said the contents of my hard drive is corrupted and it would have to be wiped and reset. I clicked the "reset" button, or whatever it was called and it went out for a few minutes, apparently to reformat and reload the hard drive, and then it reaquired the signal and everything is peachy keen again.

My question...is there something particular I shoudl be watching out for that may have corrupted my drive? I mean, I know computers and I know that moving a computer while the drive is being accessed can corrupt or damange a drive, but this unit wasn't moved. I was asleep and no one else lives here, and it was working fine when I went to bed. Everything is fine now, but I am wondering if it's a sign of a problem to come, or is that just 'one of those things?'

Thanks for any advice!!

This usually happens when Dish deletes VOD programming from the "My Entertainment" area. Nothing to do with your recordings.

Ok, ok! Great, Jim. Thanks a bunch! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting ready to have a system crash or anything!

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday. I was afraid all my saved recordings and favorite lists would be wipped out but it came back perfect after the 622 searched for signal. What is VOD programming? Why would a "corrupted hard drive' notice post because of it?

I believe this is a known bug scheduled to be fixed in a future relase. One would think this would have taken place by now, but it hasn't.

Dish "pushes" out TV programs stored on a reserved area of the Hard drive. They show up as TV Entertainment offerings. When dish deletes these programs from the hard drive it can cause the "Corrupted hard Drive" notice, just reboot.

Just go ahead and tell it to reinit. You cannot stop it. It will either do it when you tell it, or if you do a reboot will silently do it without asking you. Save yourself the reboot.

And although Usually the Tv Entertainment partition is hit because of the way they manage it, any partition can be hit and you may lose your recordings under rare conditions.
