There seems to be a high pitched sound coming from my ViP622 DVR. From my work on computers I think that it sounds like the hard drive. Does anybodoy know a way that I can test this and figure out if the hard drive is okay? Is this a common problem?

Mine is quiet, however its always possible that a drive can make excessive noise and still not fail or be anywhere near failing. Your simplest option if its really audible is to call Dish and have them replace it, that the noise is unacceptable.
