While the story is mainly about TW Cable, it says that DirecTV's logo is showing up on the Roku HBO Go app as well.

It doesn't mean anything unless D* suddenly appears in the provider list at the HBO Go activation website. I'm optimistic, but not going to get too worked up about it at this point.

I hope this comes to fruition. This would go a long way towards me looking at other providers as options.

I hope it happends. We pay for hbo and directv wants to interfere with what we can watch it on. That's bs.. I was pissed that I can't watch hbo on my Roku after being able to for so long on cable.
Hbo should use a different way to tell who subscribes to the service so they can watch it on every and any streaming device they choose.

As of 2 minutes ago HBOgo.com/activate did not list DIRECTV as an authorized provider when Roku was selected as the device.

No, D* is not listed, but TWC is now. They take over my cable system soon.
