- Time: Durning local news casts
- Description of Issue: During the local news casts there are times where the bottom 1/4 to 1/3 of the screen looks like it's loosing focus for a second. This can usually be seen during the weather segments with the maps up that have a bunch of detail on them. Sometimes you can see it on the crawls on the bottom of the screen, it just a but blurry then clears up. I see this on muntiple TV's using different STB's (HR20-700, HR21-100, HR22-100, H21-200, H21-100). I do not see this on the ATSC/OTA channel via these boxes that have ATSC tuners on them, just via the HD LIL channel. This has been going on for months, just never got around to posting it.

This happens often, especially with local news. I use the OTA for the solution. However, this is very annoying on the H21 when it is in use with a TV without a OTA connection.

Just an FYI, looks like KXAN-DT finally has fired up HD for their local newscasts. Caught the noon news today and it was in HD.

Only the CBS KEYE (42) seems to be having issues this morning, the ABC and NBC local channels are syncing just fine.

Works just fine with OTA on AM21 but has a sync issue where the sound comes and then lips finish later over the supplied local station from Directv.

The recording of NCIS shows this issue and it is very irratating to watch this. I am switching all recording to OTA from here on out.

Description of Issue: degraded picture and sound

During Sunday's broadcast of the first NCAA regional final (MichSt v Louisville) on CBS-42, both picture and sound were constantly breaking up, and occasionaly dropping completely. Because I was watching the game live on an HR-20, I switched to the OTA feed on my HR-21, and was quite surprised to see it happening there, too. I'm gathering this means it had to be a problem with the signal sent out by the affiliate, and couldn't be a receiver problem or a CBS network problem. DirecTV eventually blocked the feed and put up a "no need to call us" slide. When the second game started, the problem was gone, so I didn't think much of it.

Then tonight, I sat down to watch "24" on Fox-7, and the same thing was happening, though it was not so severe that the show was unwatchable as it was with the hoops. I had time-shifted by about half an hour, so the episode was still running live. Again, when I switched my other receiver to the live OTA feed, it was also screwed up. When I synced the two feeds, the glitches were in the same spots. Anybody else notice this? Any ideas or wild speculation about what could be causing it?

- Channel(s) affected: KTBC (7)
- Date: Every day since the DTV transition (since 6/12/2009)
- Time: On and off throughout every day
- Description of Issue: Since the DTV transition and analog cut off, KTBC has been terrible with pixelation and momentary freezes in the picture. This is similar to the problems many are having with its currently underpowered OTA feed since they moved back to VHF. Presumably D* is getting their picture from off-air antennas because their picture degraded as soon as the OTA signal weakened.

That's a good bet since the LRF for Austin is in the "Data Foundary" building on Ben White over by Riverside and there's a bunch of TV antenna's on the top of the building.
Yes, I've also noticed a lot of breakups in the audio on 7 recently. I rarely turn it on but occasionally catch an episode of The Simpson's. My OTA antenna doesn't pick it up as good any more either. Oh well.

- Description of Issue: The All-Star Game was pretty close to unwatchable, given all the audio and video interruptions, including several incidents of complete washout in pixelation. I was aware that this station was having problems since the digital transition, but hadn't seen it for myself until last night. They better get this fixed by the Fall when the NFL and primetime programming come back or they are going to get crucified by their viewers. I sent them an e-mail inquiry today. If I get any meaningful reply, I'll post it.

They were hoping to have their new antenna up last Monday, but due to winds being outside their safety guidelines they've not been able to get it on the top of the tower. You can check http://www.myfoxaustin.com/generic/about_us/dtv for progress reports.
