Since Sunday, 10/5, DirecTV channel 55 (WRSP, Fox) does not appear to be broadcasting in HD for programming that should be in that format. For example, the Bears game was not in 16:9 720p, nor was Prison Break Monday night or the presidential debate last night. I sent an e-mail to the WRSP engineering dept last night, but haven't received a reply yet.

Has anyone else been noticing this? Anybody have any information on what's going on?

Thanks
I also noticed last night that 55-WRSP was not broadcasting in HD. It appears that the feed to D* was analog as the logo in the corner just stated FOX and not FOXHD.

I tuned to the OTA channel and verified that they were broadcasting OTA in HD.

I am still noticing this as well during the Dodgers/Phillies playoff game.
Still no reply from WRSP engineering. Hopefully they are well-aware of the situation and working on a fix. With my current antenna set-up, I can't get 55-1 or 27-1 OTA, so I'm hoping this isn't an ongoing problem. I'll update if I ever hear anything from WRSP.
Is The CW broadcasting in HD over DirecTV? It was a couple of weeks ago, and the guide still indicates that it is, but SUPERNATURAL has not been in HD recently, even though the guide, again, says that it is.

P.S. It's frustrating that WRSP is messing up, now that the baseball playoffs are underway.

To the best of my knowledge, I don't think the DirecTV-delivered CW has shown anything in HD. The guide has indicated HD programming from the start (9/24), but nothing has actually been shown in HD.

Yeah, I don't know what the deal is with WRSP. I can't seem to find any info. It was in HD for a week or 2 and then all of a sudden it just went to SD.
I live in mattoon IL. We just started to get are locals in hd through directv a few weeks ago. They are broadcasting out of Champaign Springfield Decatur IL. We have been having problems with the fox network wrsp out of springfield. The programming is not being shown in hd for some reason everything is pillar boxed. They showed hd content for about a week prison break and a few others but now everything is pillar boxed even the baseball playoffs do you guy think it is a problem with Directv or with the local station.
I have a client that noticed the same thing - I recommended he call the station directly, since it so happens that D*'s Local Receive Facility (LRF) for our market happens TO BE at WRPS's studios. I hazard a guess that they send D* a feed directly out of their studio (as opposed to OTA pickup like they use for the rest of the locals) & I bet they are sending that feed out incorrectly, while the OTA feed looks like it should be.
Update - I talked to the above client tonight & he says he FINALLY got to talk to someone at WRSP & they acknowledge the problem IS on their end & hope to have it fixed by sometime tomorrow...
In case no one has yet noticed, WRSP is back in HD on DirecTV.
Anyone else noticed that WICS HD has been out since at least Saturday or is it just me? I had to switch to the antenna for OSU-PSU game.

Update: A restart of my HR20-100 solved this problem. I was receiving a gray screen while other HD locals were fine.
New HD Locals added to the list:
  • CW - WBUI (23)
  • PBS - WILL (12)
  • PBS - WSEC (14)
All locals have been down since somtime after 4PM central time today (not sure of the exact time).

ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX.

Cannot get through to anyone at DirecTV support. My guess is that they are getting slammed, based on some major midwest cities reporting similar outages (Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus).
