"We are pleased that DirecTV is the first satellite company to offer truly local coverage of the Suncoast by including WWSB ABC 7 on its HD tier of channels," says General Manager Manny Calvo.
Seems like a bizarre statement, but: Channel 40 is their old analog over-the-air channel number (and apparently still their virtual digital channel number). They call themselves "ABC 7" on the air because of the channel number they've gotten on most cable systems in the Sarasota/Bradenton area.Greg Alsobrook said:ABC 7 out of Sarasota is now being broadcast on Channel 40.
Are you talking about WTTA - Channel 38??? I noticed this too. They look like they are still broadcasting mostly SD shows in 720p, but before I jumped to any conclusions, I wanted to check in here. I am going to post this somewhere else on this forum with a little more "finger" traffic...zimm7778 said:It appears My Network TV is available in HD now also on Directv.
Unless something has changed recently (it's not really a channel I watch), DirecTV is indeed just broadcasting an upconverted SD signal for that channel.zimm7778 said:Has anyone ever seen WWSB in HD on channel 40? Everytime I go buy that channel it's all SD.
