I'm a loyal Directv customer for 10 years now. When checking out Dish Networks site, they offer my same locals in HD where I can't get them with Directv. What's the deal with that? It is so frustrating because I have now way of watching Fox or NBC in HD.

I agree that it is very frustrating but hopefully a lot more will be added in the next few months. I can't get Fox or NBC OTA and I really hate watching the shows I like in SD.
If - and it's a big if - you cannot get your locals or some of your locals in HD OTA or via D* then you are entitled
to get HD DNS for the ones you cannot get.

No waivers needed.

But this depends on you being in an area that is unserved by a local station(s) OTA.

I tried that. The OTA thing doesn't work for me or any of my neighbors. Just in a dead spot. Tell Directv that and they say I need waivers. So I guess the wait is on.

I tried the waivers and no go here!! It's funny how they deny you something you should be able to get free but you can't cause your in a dead zone. Then if they did give you the waivers you have to pay 4.99 per network which is crazy stupid.

Still, it sohuld be free! I get CBS and ABC in HD with DNS and I hate that I have to pay an extra $4 a month for station I should be able to get in HD for free. All the goddamn cable companies around me offer it for free.. But since I can't get them in HD with my Antenna and DTV refuses to add my DMA I am phucked.

I feel your pain. I am in the same situation right now. I am waiting on waivers to be approved hopefully but probably not. I will be buying an antenna and putting it up soon more than likely.

That's BS. I'm in the same situation where I live in a valley and can't get ABC via OTA. All my other locals are provided in HD by D*. I called them up and they turned on my distant ABC immediately. Try another CSR.

I should have been more specific. DIRECTV can't give you an HD version simply because the local yokel doesn't offer an HD feed.
