Just out of curiosity, which provider offers the most HD in PR?neljtorres said:for now they are giving the stinking five channels for 9.99!
Direct TV offers much more HD channels. Don't bother waiting for DISH to catch up...They are not concerned with what the people in AK/HI/PR/VI want. We will not be getting any new HD anytime soon. So sorry, but thanks for signing up for the 2 year contract if you did. DISH appreciates suckers like us.jclewter79 said:Just out of curiosity, which provider offers the most HD in PR?
Liberty Cable has more HD in Puerto Rico but they only offer in the central, west, north and east part of the Island. The Metro Area is OneLink. And the south is Choice "but it is part owned by liberty".jclewter79 said:Just out of curiosity, which provider offers the most HD in PR?
E-XI is in place at 110°. This satellite will reach Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico on the main beam, allowing those areas to receive it with a smaller dish. By my guess, they should be about ready to start shuffling some HD channels around, and put different ones on the E-X AK/HI spot beams. So I'd say soon is coming, well, "soon."g182237 said:They are not concerned with what the people in AK/HI/PR/VI want. We will not be getting any new HD anytime soon.
I guess your question has not been answered so far.poncedish said:Which HD package is available to Puerto Rico right now? do I need a 3rd dish for 61.5?
That is a really cool sounding setup but, how did you convince E* to turn on the full HD package? It was my understanding that 61.5 could be received with a large enough dish in PR but, E* did not like to garantee coverage so they would not turn on the full package.PRHD said:I guess your question has not been answered so far.
1. All HD packages are available for Puerto Rico if you have the equipment.
2. Yes, to pick up all the HD channels available, besides the HD receiver, you do need a third dish on your roof. I had to do this. A four footer did not work for me and I had to install a 6 footer pointed at 61.5.
I now have a VIP 622 and a 722. I have two 4 footers pointed at 110 and 119, plus the 6 footer pointed at 61.5. The investment was significant, but I do receive all HD channels and it is worth it if you can afford it. By the way I live in Aguadilla.
If you can afford it this is the best alternative since Direct TV do not have any HD channels available for PR and no immediate plans for them. In my area the only other alternative is Choice TV which have only about 4 HD channels available. If you live in the metropolitan area, and cannot afford the equipment, then Cable TV is your best alternative.
Hope this helps...
I had to buy the DVR's external to Dishnetwork, via the internet. I then called to active them, and to add the HD package. I received no pushback or warning related to your point, and was activated immediately. I have an excellent reception with no problems.jclewter79 said:That is a really cool sounding setup but, how did you convince E* to turn on the full HD package?
