HD space & Movies Now

998 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Machpelah
Right now, I've got eight PPV HD DOD movies sitting in my Movies Now & Showcases tab. I didn't request these movies via DOD and I can't delete them. How much space do these movies take up? Especially, with football season upon us, I need all my available HD space to record.

Thanks in advance for the info! :gott:

Showcases are stored in an area reserved for such things. They don't impact your "available" storage.

That being said, eight HD movies is a pretty hefty set-aside.
harsh is right. We've never been able to use that space. It is a separate area, and has always been reserved for DirecTV's use.
100gigs is held for Directv... IN that 100gigs is you showcases and movies now, and guide data, and other stuff.... Like everyone else said, it does not change how much space or time you have for recording shows from what your unit said it would when you bought it.

Wow! DirecTV is certainly maximizing their set-aside quota. In some ways it nice to have those movies readily available, but then I consider the amount of bandwidth they burned up uploading movies to the box that I'll never watch. :nono2: I can see it becoming a problem with ISPs soon...

On another note, if memory serves, the HR20 only has 300Gb. If DirecTV sets aside 100Gb, that means they are reserving a third of all the available hard-drive space. What a shame, but it is DirecTV's box and I'm only leasing it...

Hey! Since DirecTV is making liberal use of my bandwidth, maybe they will help me with my ISP bill!

All of these movies come down via satellite, not broadband.

I didn't know that.

Rats, now I can't send DirecTV my bill....:p

Thanks for the info! :feelbette
