HDMI may fool you

Don't think this belongs in the HDMI thread for the latest release, because I'm not having problems per se, but just a heads up:

I did my first reset after noticing my "info" button wasn't working, and my native OFF resolution was hanging on 480i.

After reset I got the hello screen, followed by BSOD. I red-buttoned for the 2nd reset, and got the hello followed by a Grey SOD.

I was already suspicious of the HDMI handshake and already had the component cables out and ready. On the GSOD, I popped in the components and saw the receiver was 97% finished downloading data, not actually hung up like the HDMI input was showing me.

So just a heads up if you're using HDMI with no or few problems, and have to do a reset for any reason (including if it's actually the HDMI handshake itself  ), don't necessarily take what you see through the HDMI as what's happening with the receiver. Keep those analog cables handy. :)
