I live in Natchez, MS. The locals I receive with Directv are from Jackson, MS.
I am granted HD DNS with ABC and CBS-Awesome for me.

Now......

To request a waiver to get FOX HD I have to contact FOX 48 WNTZ out of Alexandria, LA.

The channel I get with Directv is FOX 40 WDBD out of Jackson, MS.

I'm not watching WNTZ FOX 48 regardless so why the heck do they care if I want a HD feed from New York. When they deny me, I'm stuck with WDBD FOX 40. So either way, I do not get their channel.

Am I the only one having trouble understanding this? If i received FOX 48 with my locals then I would understand.

Didn't we already dance this song?

You live in the Jackson DMA. Consider yourself lucky that you don't live in the Alexandria market as they will likely never be carried by DIRECTV.

I understand where I live. I am lucky I don't live in Alexandria market and since I don't live in Alexandria market, why am I held prisoner by them?

More that one affliate may lay claim to your area as their broadcast area. If that happens then both affiliates would have to permit you to receive a broadcast from out of the area (NY). It does not matter which local channel Directv provides you, it is a decision by that affiliate, WNTZ in this case. You may want to ask them why the heck they care.:)

Alexandria ranks at DMA #179 (Grant, Vernon, Rapides and Avoyelles counties) and it appears that it offers only ABC and NBC from inside the boundaries. DIRECTV carries about 145 SD markets so if you do the math, it doesn't look promising. There are some smaller markets, but their proximity to large markets makes them a no-brainer. There are no such nearby large markets in Alexandria.

Yeah, well, same story here in East Ga - they think we care about SC and NC politics, news and weather, instead of Ga stuff. Wonder if the new president can fix this problem!

We also have CBS and FOX in Rapides Parish now. And I *think* LPB(PBS) is either in Rapides or Grant. No CW or UPN or whatever else though.

OK, two things...

(1) Please be kinder to each other. Don't make me ask again.
(2) Please, let's get this one back to topic.
