I'm supposed to get Dish service on Wed. and the more I read the more confused I get. Im getting a 722 hd dvr and Im not sure about the second receiver but its a standard. I am having a 4 tvs hooked up, at night me and my 3 kids have 3 different tvs going. Will we all be able to watch something different while I record on the 4th tv? So essentially can we watch four different channels.

What you want to do is possible. The 722 is essentially two satellite receivers and one off-the-air digital receiver feeding two TVs. If you can get the digital local channels, it would be three receivers. If you can't. the 722 would be only two receivers and the second box would have to be a 2-TV dual receiver box also. And if four people want to watch four different programs, it would also have to be a 2-TV dual receiver box.

I tried to "simplify" the basics of a 722 in this long post on another thread. I'm not sure I succeeded.

In any event, you need to know what model the other box is going to be before you could get a definitive answer. And you ought to know anyway so if the installer shows up with the wrong box, you'll know it. That does happen.

Call Dish back an make sure they know that your install is to connect up 4 tvs and that you only need or want 2 receivers. The 722 will feed 2 TVs, the 1st being your main TV and the 2nd being where you want your 'recording' to take place. The other receiver needs to be at least a 322 placed in, lets say "Kids BR2" w/ its 2nd ouput fed into "Kids BR3". Of course you could upgrade to the 625 for the kids which would be the same basic setup except that the 625 is a DVR and the 322 is not.

Thank you all . I just called and it seems we are getting the 722 and the 322. So with those 2 receiveres is what I mentioned possible? Thanks again fo all the help.
You will be able to watch 3 TV's with 3 different shows while recording a fourth. You will even be able to watch a recorded show on the fourth while recording something new.
