i had to recently redo all the wood on my balcony, and that meant taking down my dish I disconnected the wire to the dish and removed the dish and mast. i forgot to unplug the reciever and inverter when i did this. anyways i reinstalled the dish everything is level and tight and in the same general direction . but i have no signal on any transponders they all read zero. my question is did i mess something up by not unplugging power before i disconnected the dish. and if im pointed in the same general direction shouldnt i see at least some number beside 0 on atleast 1 of the transponders?
oh sorry i have a slimline3 and a hd dvr reciever.

No. General Direction wont cut it. You will have a VERY narrow window. Tune to the 101 satellite if using a receiver, or set your meter on the 101 satellite (KU). If the mast is plumb, and the elevation is set correctly for your location, start about 10 degrees east of where you think it should be, and slowly, 1 degree at a time, rotate the dish toward the west, checking your meter after a second or two. Keep repeating until you get a signal. Center the signal, then begin your dithering using the fine tuning adjustments.

If you dont get anything after going approx 10 degrees past where you think it should be, raise the elevation 2 degrees, and start over. Then if still no luck, lower the elevation 4 degrees and start over.

It is doubtful you damaged it. If in doubt, measure the voltage on the shield and pigtail of the coax at the LNB end. Should match the voltage of your power supply.
