One thing I would mention though. I myself and several other directv techs have burned up swim 16's using the power ports. Make sure you ignore that diagram as far as where the power goes and use the swim 1 power port from the splitter to power the switch.

That't total BS the dc input is designed to be connected that way.

Your exactly correct. They designed it to work that way. But would you pay the money for a switch that will burn up within a month? I have contacted iss about it and they even admit that if it isn't powered through the swim 1 splitter it will burn it up. We have burned up 14 switches last month because our techs have done this.

Then they're idiots.
There are many many SWiM-16s being powered through the DC power port without issues, for a couple of years now, so "something" else is going on.

The only difference between the PWR connector and the PWR/SWM is one of these on the SWM:

Very well put!! I too have had zero issues with my 16 using the dedicated power connection.

I wanna see if anyone lately had had this problem. Because I do understand the purpose of the port is for that reason, being powered that is. But in the last few months we have had this start happening. I also wanna note that we changed brands in a lot of our equipment, I'm guessing to save money. I have a swim 16 in the truck I'll get more details on it and see. I see your point, but why would I lie? So lemme get more details.

I don't think you're "lying".
I think you may have a problem, but haven't yet sorted out the source or cause of it, and ISS has been known to have their heads so far up "something", that they need a window in their belly button, so they can see out.
